Our IB program is growing more each year. On August 20th, at 5:30, Beddingfield will have a Freshmen Orientation followed by Open House. Our IB Students will be there to answer questions for parents and students who are interested in learning more about IB at Beddingfield. We will have plenty of Spanish speaking IB students to assist with translation needs as well.
On October 14th, our sophomore, junior, and senior IB students will be visiting the campus of UNC Wilmington. We plan to tour the beautiful campus, have lunch in a dining hall, explore a dorm room, and find out about all the wonderful things UNC WIlmington has to offer.
We look forward to another year of partnering with Barton College and thank them for allowing BHS IB students to have full access to Barton resources. Students are able to work in study groups and meet weekly to work on IB assignments and participate in discussions.
ACT preparation is a major focus for the IB students. We will have ACT and SAT prep sessions as the year progresses.

The big 3...
IB students are required to complete three components in addition to their IB classes. Students must participate in 150 hours of CAS (Creativity, Action, Service). Students must also complete a 4,000 word extended essay in an area of their choice. The third required portion is the Theory of Knowledge class; a philosophical discussion class that is taken junior year. These three tasks must be done over the course of the junior and senior year for all candidates.
